Man sentenced to 8 years in prison for beating another into a coma outside a nightclub in Tashkent

In Tashkent, a fight broke out near a hotel, during which 30-year-old Akmal Shukurov struck a man who was trying to defend a woman, sending him into a coma. The victim, identified as Boris, suffered a severe head injury and remained in a coma for nearly a month. After the attack, Shukurov fled but was later detained in Kazakhstan.
The court found him guilty of causing serious bodily harm, fraud, and hooliganism, sentencing him to 8 years and 1 month in a general-regime colony.

The incident occurred on the night of March 16. According to investigators, Boris Avakyan had intervened to protect a woman from an aggressive man and sustained critical head injuries. He regained consciousness only in early April.
