Man sentenced to 5 days in jail for harassing a girl in Tashkent metro

A man has been sentenced to five days of administrative arrest for physically and verbally harassing a 20-year-old female student in the Tashkent metro.
According to reports, on September 26, he touched the girl inappropriately inside the metro car and, after she protested, insulted her with offensive words.

During the court hearing, the man claimed that his hand might have “accidentally touched” her, but admitted to using insulting language.
The Chilonzor District Court reclassified the case from “minor disorderly conduct” to “sexual harassment” and sentenced him to five days of administrative detention.
