Man in Navoi runs over his wife for refusing to give up alimony

In Navoi region’s Qiziltepa district, a man ran over his ex-wife with a car after she refused to withdraw her alimony claim, leaving her severely injured.
According to NeMolchi.uz, the victim — a woman named Zamira — had reportedly been subjected to years of domestic abuse by her former husband, Shahriyor.
On August 12, the regional civil court granted them three months to finalize their divorce and ordered the husband to pay alimony for their four children.
The next day, Shahriyor called his wife, threatening her: “Give up alimony, or you’ll regret it.” The following morning, he struck her with his Damas vehicle.
As a result, Zamira suffered a spinal fracture and paralysis of her lower body.

A criminal case was opened under the article “Violation of traffic safety rules when using a vehicle,” allowing the man to avoid imprisonment.
The woman remains in critical condition in hospital, while her family is demanding justice.
