Man arrested in Tashkent for ordering the murder of his second wife for $10,000

A 41-year-old man has been detained in Tashkent for ordering the murder of his second wife, who was in a religious marriage with him, the city police department reported.

According to investigators, the man had two families. After his second wife learned about his first family, frequent conflicts arose between them. The woman reportedly threatened the man, including with suicide together with their children.

The man then decided to intimidate or kill her and agreed with an unidentified person to pay $10,000, transferring $2,000 in advance and providing information about her whereabouts.

Law enforcement officers prevented the crime through a special operation. The “hitman” turned out to be cooperating with the authorities. After staging the woman’s death, the man was arrested while handing over the remaining money and a car.

A criminal case has been opened against him for attempted premeditated murder. The investigation is ongoing.
