Major online trial begins in El Salvador against MS-13 members
The trial of 486 people suspected of belonging to one of the most dangerous criminal groups, MS-13 (Mara Salvatrucha-13), has begun in El Salvador.
The defendants are accused of tens of thousands of crimes, including murders, committed between 2012 and 2022. They are accused of organizing violence and trying to create a "parallel state" in the country.
The trial will take place in an unusual format, with the suspects participating online from prison.
