A major fire at a hotel in the resort area of Bayahibe in the Dominican Republic has killed one person and forced the evacuation of nearly 1,700 tourists.
The woman who died was a 46-year-old Italian tourist. Three other people were taken to hospital, while six others were treated at the scene.
Initial reports suggest that the fire spread quickly due to the hotel's thatched roof and strong winds. The fire is now under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
