Mahalla labeled “shameful” becomes “most exemplary” in less than a month

The Birlik mahalla in Tashkent Region’s Chinaz district was declared a “shameful mahalla” in early August due to poor landscaping and sanitation conditions.

Less than a month later, the mahalla took first place in the regional “Most Exemplary Mahalla” competition.

According to the district administration, the mahalla was recognized for its landscaping and improvement efforts carried out as part of the “40-Day Campaign.” As an incentive, the winning mahalla was awarded a voucher worth 500 million soums.

Earlier, Chinaz District Mayor Sherzod Solikhov instructed officials to install signs reading “shameful mahalla” in poorly maintained neighborhoods and “shameful household” on properties that were not being properly maintained.
