Magnitude 5.6 earthquake strikes Egypt
A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck Egypt during the night of August 3. The epicenter was located 38 kilometers north of the city of Suez, and the tremors were also felt in Israel, the Gaza Strip, Jordan, and Lebanon.
So far, no fatalities, injuries, or major damage have been reported. Following the earthquake, the Egyptian Red Crescent Society activated its emergency response plan and advised residents to avoid entering buildings that may have been damaged and to follow official updates.
Meanwhile, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) measured the earthquake at magnitude 5.4, stating that its hypocenter was located at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers.
