Louvre Theft Case: 7 Arrested, Stolen Artifacts Still Missing

French police continue investigating the major theft that occurred at the world-famous Louvre Museum. According to the Paris Prosecutor’s Office, seven suspects have been detained, one of them identified through DNA traces found at the crime scene. The others are being questioned as potential witnesses who may have knowledge of the incident.

As a reminder, on October 19, valuable historical artifacts worth about €88 million (around $100 million) were stolen from the museum. Despite extensive police raids across Paris and its suburbs, the stolen artworks have not yet been found.

Investigators are also exploring the possibility that the thieves collaborated with museum staff, though the prosecutor stated that no direct evidence of such involvement has been discovered so far.

Authorities have described this as one of the largest cultural thefts of the past decade. Experts believe the stolen items may have already been smuggled abroad and sold on the black market. In response, French police are working in cooperation with Interpol to locate the missing treasures.
