"Living Book" fined, books confiscated

Khairulla Asadov, a street bookseller known on social media as "living book", has been brought to administrative responsibility for illegal entrepreneurial activity.
According to court documents, an inspection conducted on September 23, 2025 revealed that he did not issue a purchase receipt for a sale worth 20,000 soums, did not enter the proceeds into the online cash register, and was operating without state registration.
By a court decision dated January 6, 2026, he was fined 2 million 60 thousand soums, 5 times the MHM. Also, 100 books worth a total of 1 million 520 thousand soums were confiscated.
The Tashkent city courts noted that although a book is a means of spirituality, in trade it is considered a commodity and the seller must comply with legal procedures.
