In August 2026, the law firm "Trujillo Gonzalez" analyzed 30 Spotify playlists designed for in-car listening and studied the 50 most frequently occurring songs within them. According to the analysis, songs with a tempo exceeding 120 beats per minute (BPM) are associated with increased speed, reduced driver attention, and a higher likelihood of errors behind the wheel. The five songs with the highest tempos: 🔹 Ed Sheeran — "Shape of You" — 192 BPM; 🔹 Oasis — "Wonderwall" — 173 BPM; 🔹 The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber — "STAY" — 169 BPM; 🔹 Billy Idol — "Rebel Yell" — 166 BPM; 🔹 Blondie — "One Way or Another" — 162 BPM. "Shape of You" appeared in 24 of the 30 playlists and has been streamed over 5 billion times on Spotify. The study did not cover every song; it analyzed only the 50 tracks that appeared most frequently across the 30 automotive playlists.
