During an operational operation conducted by officers of the Tashkent regional department of the State Security Service, a lawyer from a law firm was caught with material evidence while receiving $10,000.
It was reported that he promised to change the 2-year prison sentence imposed on a local citizen to a sentence of restriction of freedom through his acquaintances in the judicial system.
A criminal case has now been opened against the lawyer and investigative actions are underway.
The State Security Service called on citizens to contact the short number 1520 if they encounter similar violations of the law. The identity of the applicant is guaranteed to be kept confidential.
Earlier, it was reported that the State Security Service had detained lawyers who demanded bribes in Tashkent, Samarkand, Gulistan, Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions.
