Lavrov objects to the absence of a Russian inscription on the “Mourning Mother” monument in Samarkand

On April 22, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who visited Uzbekistan, while laying flowers at the “Mourning Mother” monument in Samarkand, criticized the fact that the inscription under the monument is only in English. “There is an inscription in English here, but I did not see the Russian one,” Lavrov said.
Sergey Lavrov also met with Shavkat Mirziyoyev and conveyed Vladimir Putin’s greetings and best wishes to the head of state. During the meeting, views were exchanged on regional and international issues of mutual interest, and issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Russian friendship, comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance relations in terms of implementing agreements reached at the highest level were considered.
