Large shopping malls will be required to open bookstores
Under a presidential decree, shopping malls with an area of more than 5,000 square meters will be required to establish bookstores.
In addition, entrepreneurs who are members of the "Toshkent Kitob Tijorat" Association will be allowed to open lightweight bookshops and Book Cafés in busy public areas, markets, large shopping malls, and along major streets.
The decree also предусматривает the creation of dedicated "book streets" in 24-hour public parks and recreational areas across Tashkent.
These measures are part of the President's program for the social and economic development of Tashkent for 2026–2027.
