The arrival in Kyrgyzstan of the country's first president, Askar Akayev, who fled after the March 2005 events, and his wife Mairam caused a public outcry.
Sources close to the couple explained their visit by speaking at a number of educational and scientific organizations of the Kyrgyz Republic. In response, university students expressed their protest. The institutions themselves and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic assured that Askar Akayev's lectures "were not planned." Deputies of the Zhogorku Kenesh have already proposed to bring to justice those who participated in the organization of these events.
Recall that a week earlier dissatisfaction in social and political circles was caused by an interview widely disseminated on the Internet by a journalist from NTRK (National Television and Radio Corporation) with another fugitive president of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kurmanbek Bakiyev. Azattyk tells about the situation around the fugitive presidents.
