Kyrgyzstan’s education minister dismissed for drunk driving

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has dismissed Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation Baktiyar Orozov for violating the ethical standards of public servants. The relevant decree was signed on December 15. Orozov was stopped by traffic police officers in the Chuy region on suspicion of driving under the influence. A medical examination confirmed the presence of alcohol in his system. Orozov admitted that he had consumed beer. He had been appointed minister in May 2025.
