Following the signing of Protocol No. 44, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan significantly accelerated the process of agreeing on border sections.

BISHKEK, Nov 8 — Sputnik. At the meeting of topographical working groups of the government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, another 17.98 kilometers of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border were agreed, the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

The meeting was held from 1 to 8 November in Buston, Sughd province of Tajikistan.

"The parties will continue to work on the description of the remaining sites at the next meeting, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan," the report says.

Following the results of the work, a corresponding protocol was signed. The meeting was held in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding.

Earlier, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov said that Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan can resolve border issues before the New Year.

In early October, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan signed Protocol No. 44, which, as noted, " gives grounds to resolve all cross-border issues."

The length of the border between the two countries is 972 kilometers. In August, it was reported that about 290 kilometers remain undescribed. After the signing of Protocol No. 44, the process of approving border sections has significantly accelerated.
