King Harald V of Norway Dies at 89
King Harald V of Norway has died at the age of 89. He had been receiving treatment in hospital in recent weeks due to a blood disorder.
According to the Royal Palace, the king died at 6:35 a.m. on August 28 at the National Hospital in Oslo. A day before his death, members of the royal family came to the hospital to say goodbye to him.
Harald V ruled Norway for 35 years. He will be remembered as a monarch with modern views who supported reforms and sought to unite the nation. Following the king’s death, the throne will be taken by his son, Crown Prince Haakon.
