The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, expressed confidence in the development of relations with Russia at a "new and high level" and hoped for the victory of the Russian people in the "struggle against the imperialist hegemony". He said this in his greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"During my recent official friendship visit to Russia, I am very pleased to have had a sincere and comprehensive exchange of views with Comrade (Vladimir) Putin on the multilateral development of Korea-Russia friendly relations," it said. In the text of the greeting, quoted by the state news agency KCNA.
Kim Jong-un expressed confidence that the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries will steadily develop and rise to a new high level.
"I hope that the Russian people, who have taken this opportunity to build a strong state, will always win victory and glory in the struggle against the hegemonic policy and imperialists' isolation, suffocation, and destruction of conspiracies against Russia. I sincerely wish Comrade Putin good health and success in his responsible work," the telegram reads.
He noted that the USSR was the first country to establish diplomatic relations with the DPRK. The leader of the DPRK stated that these contacts "became a guarantee of further strengthening of friendship between the peoples of the two countries." According to him, Korean-Russian relations are constantly moving forward "on the path of friendship, solidarity and good neighborliness, overcoming all the trials of history." Kim Jong-un added that the cooperation between the two countries is now moving "towards the eternal prosperity of a stable and promising new era".
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited Russia for almost a week in mid-September. During the trip, he met with Putin, got acquainted with advanced Russian aviation technologies.
