North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un visited Russia in September with the intention of holding talks with Vladimir Putin, according to the New York Times with reference to US officials.
According to newspaper interlocutors, the leaders of the DPRK and Russia will participate in the Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held on September 10-13 on the campus of the Far Eastern federal University in Vladivostok.
Kim Jong-Un is expected to arrive in Russia from Pyongyang on his armored train. Sources did not exclude that the North Korean leader could also visit Moscow.
During the negotiations, the parties planned to discuss the supply of artillery shells and anti-tank missiles from the DPRK. In turn, Kim Jong-Un hopes that Russia will provide North Korea with food and advanced technology for satellites and nuclear submarines, according to US officials.
American intelligence has repeatedly reported that Russia and North Korea are actively negotiating the supply of weapons used by the Russian military in the war in Ukraine. In July, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu made an official visit to North Korea. U.S. intelligence assessed the trip as a preparation for negotiations.
