Khujand fortress is being restored by 30 craftsmen from Samarkand

Repair and restoration work of the architectural monument is carried out with the involvement of scientists and archaeologists, including from Uzbekistan

More than 30 masters and craftsmen from Samarkand are engaged in the restoration of the Khujand fortress.

This was noted by the head of the region, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, speaking about the strengthening of cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, the press service of the administration of the Sughd region reports.

He noted that the repair and restoration work of the architectural monument is being carried out with the involvement of scientists and archaeologists.

Thus, more than 300 professionals are involved in construction work, including craftsmen, artists, decorators, potters and carvers.

According to the plan, the builders will reconstruct and recreate the walls of the fortress, rebuild the administrative building, samples of dwellings and courtyards of Khujand, as well as hotels, museums, teahouses, baths and other facilities.

After restoration, the ancient castle will become not just a tourist attraction, but a real repository of living Tajik history and culture.

It should be noted that the equipment for the reconstruction of the Khujand fortress was provided by the Russian side.
