At the event, the Minister of Preschool and School Education Khilola Umarova spoke about the reforms carried out in the field.
“The land of Uzbekistan in ancient times was the cradle of two great renaissances,” says H. Umarova. - Such great geniuses as Ferghani, Khorezmi, Farabi, Beruni, Ibn Sina, Bukhari, Termizi, Ulugbek, Jami, Navoi grew up in this blessed place. In order to become a worthy successor to our great ancestors, much attention has been paid to education in Uzbekistan in recent years. Education is an important strategic issue for Uzbekistan, where over 50 percent of the population is made up of young people under the age of 29.
What needs to be done in the education system until 2030 is clearly defined in the Education 2030 concept. As part of this concept, many results have been achieved so far in this area. Expansion of the pre-school education system has been identified as an important issue in the country and enrollment has increased from 27% to 72% in the last 5 years. By 2030, it is planned to fully cover all children with preschool education. Over the past 5 years, 261 new schools have been built, 2.5 thousand schools have been expanded, and an additional 700 thousand student places have been created. Strengthened administrative responsibility for interference in the activities of teachers to protect their reputation and value in society. Separate measures of administrative and criminal liability have been established for engaging in forced labor.
For the first time, our country began to participate in international studies to assess the quality of education (PISA, PIRLS, TIMMS). According to the 2022 Global Innovation Index report on human capital, Uzbekistan moved up 7 positions to 65th out of 131 countries.
