Khamenei may flee to Moscow

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei may flee to Moscow if the country's security forces fail to crack down on protests, The Times reported, citing intelligence sources.
An evacuation plan has reportedly been drawn up for Khamenei and 20 of his closest aides, as well as family members. It is envisaged that they will leave Tehran and gather assets and property abroad if necessary to leave safely.
According to psychological analysis by Western intelligence agencies, Khamenei was "significantly weakened mentally and physically" after the 12-day war with Israel in June, but was described as someone who could make tactical compromises for the sake of long-term strategic goals. Israeli intelligence spokesman Beni Sabti believes that his escape to Moscow is the only option left.

Protests continue across Iran. US President Donald Trump has expressed his readiness to intervene if the protests are suppressed by force, but Khamenei's close aides have warned against it.
