Key issues facing the film industry discussed at the Cinematography Agency

Uzbekistan’s film industry discusses current challenges and priorities

Jahongir Ahmedov, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Director of the Cinematography Agency, held an open meeting with filmmakers. The meeting focused on the current state of Uzbek cinema, existing challenges in the industry and ways to improve the system.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the main criterion for evaluating the film industry should not be the completion of assigned tasks, but the creation of high-quality films that appeal to audiences and can compete internationally.

The participants also identified several priority areas, including creating films that bring audiences back to cinemas, producing projects that can represent Uzbekistan достойно at international festivals, and developing the industry through the initiative and cooperation of filmmakers.

Going forward, the effectiveness of films is expected to be evaluated based on audience response, public recognition and international achievements.
