ASTANA, Aug 14 - Sputnik. The idea of creating a trilateral gas union between Astana, Tashkent and Moscow belongs to Russia, Kazakhstan has not received an official proposal, said the official representative of the Ministry of Energy of the republic Shyngys Ilyasov.
"The initiative to form trilateral cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan in the gas industry in November 2022 was announced by the Russian Federation. At the same time, there have been no official proposals from either the Russian or Uzbek sides," Ilyasov said on Monday.

Cooperation in the gas sector with Russia and Uzbekistan is conducted in a bilateral format on the basis of mutually beneficial partnerships, Ilyasov added.
"Taking into account that the gas transportation system of Kazakhstan has free capacities for the transit of Russian gas in the direction of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Government of Kazakhstan and Gazprom PJSC signed an action plan for the organization of work on the preparation of the Central Asia – Center main gas pipeline for the transportation of Russian gas to the Republic of Uzbekistan," the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan said.
These works, according to him, are scheduled to be completed on October 1, 2023.
Earlier it was reported that the triple gas union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan may be expanded.
In 2022, the press secretary of the head of Kazakhstan Ruslan Zheldibai reported that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin discussed the creation of a "triple gas union" in Moscow.
At the end of 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan noted that the creation of the gas union was a proposal of the Russian side and so far it has not been formalized by official agreements.
On August 12, 2023, the chairman of the State Concern Turkmengaz, Myrat Archayev, said that the creation of a trilateral gas union with the participation of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan affects the interests of other states, including Turkmenistan, and Ashgabat is concerned about the statements about the creation of a gas union.
