Kazakhstan becomes one of the first in Central Asia to test a flying taxi

Kazakhstan has taken another major step toward developing modern transportation technologies. The country successfully tested a flying taxi — an electric aerial transport vehicle — becoming one of the first nations in Central Asia to do so.

The test flight was conducted in the area of Alatau City with the participation of international partners. The project aims to shape the future of transportation by developing environmentally friendly and high-speed mobility solutions.

According to specialists, the flying taxi can reach speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour. On a single charge, the aircraft is capable of traveling up to 200 kilometers, making it suitable for short intercity routes.

The technologically advanced vehicle is equipped with 13 electric motors. It is designed to carry one pilot and up to five passengers. For safety reasons, the first test flight was conducted without passengers on board.

The project was developed through international cooperation involving companies from China, South Korea, Italy, and the United States. Nearly $300 million has reportedly been invested in the initiative so far.

Officials say the flying taxi service is expected to become fully operational by 2029. Experts believe the project could play a significant role in reducing traffic congestion in major cities and creating a cleaner, more efficient transportation system in the future.
