Kazakh man acquitted in alleged theft of 100 horses receives a new home

In Kazakhstan, 60-year-old Sarsenov, who worked as a horse breeder for more than 30 years, has been presented with a new house by a businessman and a construction company. He also received 1 million tenge and a thoroughbred English horse.

Sarsenov had previously been accused of the disappearance of 100 horses from a farm and was sentenced to seven years in prison. However, after the case attracted significant public attention, it was reopened.

During the appeal, new evidence showed that only one horse had actually gone missing. The charges were reduced, an amnesty was applied, and Sarsenov was released directly from the courtroom.

Because his only home had been pledged as collateral for a debt of 10 million tenge, he was later given a new house as a gift.
