The US Treasury Department announced sanctions against three companies in Kazakhstan, Russia and Slovakia
ASTANA, Aug 17 – Sputnik. The Kazakh company became one of the organizations against which the United States imposed sanctions "for ties with the DPRK," the US Ministry of Finance reported.
"The Department for Foreign Assets Control of the Ministry of Finance has imposed sanctions on three organizations associated with a sanctions evasion network trying to support arms sales transactions between Russia and the DPRK," the report says.
Three firms are allegedly related to the Slovak citizen Ashot Mkrtychev. He was sanctioned in March for allegedly negotiating with North Korean officials to supply "two dozen types of weapons and ammunition" to Russia in exchange for civilian aircraft, raw materials and other goods.
Kazakhstan Defense Engineering LLP, as well as Russian Verus LLC and Slovak Versor have joined the sanctions list.
Sanctions by the Ministry of Finance usually mean the blocking of assets in the jurisdiction of the United States.
"All property and interests in the property of the above-mentioned persons described above, who are in the United States or in the possession or control of persons from the United States, are blocked," the release of the US Treasury Department notes.
