Kabul could run out of water by 2030

The supply of drinking water to 6 million residents in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, is at great risk. Experts estimate that the city's water reserves are running out twice as fast as they were recovered.

Due to limited financial capacity, the Taliban government is unable to carry out water import projects from rivers and reservoirs. As a result, Kabul is one of the first among modern capitals to be at risk of completely losing its groundwater reserves.
