Jim Carrey received an honorary “César” award in France

Legendary actor and comedian Jim Carrey was honored with the prestigious French “César” award in recognition of his many years of contribution to cinema and his outstanding career achievements. The award ceremony traditionally took place in Paris, bringing together leading figures of the film industry.

The award was presented to the actor by Michel Gondry, director of “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” (“The Eternal Radiance of a Spotless Mind”). In his speech, Carrey expressed gratitude for the high honor and emphasized his French ancestry.

“About three hundred years ago, my great-great-great-great-grandfather Mark François Carrey left Saint-Malo in France for Canada. Perhaps this is what my family had been searching for. If you want luck to smile at you, first smile at it. It’s very difficult, but we must try. I will always cherish this memory and always smile at it. My life is paradise,” the actor said in French.
