Japanese lunar exploration company ispace and geological exploration firm Magna Petra are collaborating on a project to extract “commercial quantities” of the isotope helium-3 from lunar regolith and deliver it to Earth.
If the deal goes according to plan, ispace’s Resilience module Tenacious microrover will be deployed to the lunar surface to drill into the lunar landscape and collect regolith samples. The mission is scheduled for 2025.
