Japan launches granny rental service
A new service called “OK Obaachan” (“Okay, grandma”) has been launched in Japan. Through it, you can call grandmothers over 60 for 3,300 yen (about $22) per hour.
They help customers with housework, teach them how to cook, chat, or provide moral support. Currently, about 100 grandmothers work in this service.
The initiative is being met with mixed reactions: some warmly welcome the idea, while others raise safety concerns.
A similar “uncle rental” service, “Ossan Rental,” also exists in Japan and is also popular.
