Japan Elects Its First Female Prime Minister

Sanae Takaichi has become Japan’s first-ever female prime minister.
The 64-year-old politician received 237 votes in the lower house of parliament, becoming the 104th prime minister of the country.

Takaichi, a member of the Liberal Democratic Party, is known for her conservative views and previously served as Minister of Internal Affairs.

The new government will be formed through a coalition between the Liberal Democratic Party and Japan Innovation Party.
This event is being hailed as a historic breakthrough for women in Japan’s political leadership.
