American actor James Ransone committed suicide. He is survived by his wife and two children.

James Ranson passed away on December 19th. His death was announced by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. He explained that the actor committed suicide in the barn.

 James Ranson was born on June 2, 1979, in Baltimore, the son of Vietnam veteran James Finley Ranson II and his wife, Joyce. He briefly served as the bassist for a lesser-known New York City rock band. He graduated from the George Washington University Center for Arts and Technology, and then continued his studies at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.

 

Ranson made his film debut in 1990, appearing in the TV series Law & Order. He has a total of 46 acting credits. He is best known for his role as Ziggy Sobotka in the TV series The Wire (2002-2008). He also portrayed Eddie Kasprzak in the film It 2.

The artist starred in the films "My Boyfriend's a Killer", "If You Can't Beat 'Em, Join 'Em", "Sinister", "Sinister 2", "The Mandarin", "The Perfect Guy", and "Black Phone". In 2008, Ranson won the Internet Movie and Television Association Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Film or Mini-Series ("Generation Kill"). In 2013, he received the Robert Altman Award for his performance in "Starlet".

In 2021, James publicly revealed that he had been a victim of sexual abuse as a child. He wrote about it on his social media page.
