Cases of measles infection from foreign citizens are being detected in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the information service of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee. According to him, the epidemiological situation of measles in the world and the European region has worsened in 2023 due to those who refused to be vaccinated, according to the World Health Organization. Neighboring countries: 2,105 cases have been reported in Afghanistan so far in 2023, more than 300 in Tajikistan and 169 in Kazakhstan. As of July this year, blood samples of 306 suspected measles patients were sent to the virological laboratory. Measles was detected in 164 of them. Cases of measles in the country are detected mainly among citizens who have been in contact with people infected with measles from abroad. Currently, the epidemiological situation of measles in the country is under control, and those who have been in contact with persons suspected of having this disease are covered by preventive vaccination based on epidemiological guidelines. In order to prevent a complex epidemic situation regarding measles disease, mass vaccinations against measles and rubella were carried out in Uzbekistan from November 16 to December 30, 2022 for children aged 6 months to 5 years. As a result, 3,303,582 or 98.4% of the planned 3,355,900 children were vaccinated, and vaccination is still ongoing.
