In Uzbekistan, a parent who marries a child under the age of marriage is held responsible. This was mentioned by the Ministry of Justice.
It is reported that giving or marrying a person under the age of marriage by parents or their substitutes will result in a fine of 4,950,000 soums.
"If this act is committed after the application of an administrative fine, it will be punished with correctional work for up to 2 years," the ministry said.
For information, the marriage age in the republic is set at 18 for men and women.
Earlier, it was reported that a total of 98,700 marriages were concluded in Uzbekistan between January and June, where women were married at the average age of 23, and men at the age of 28.
