It was found that more than 150 objects of archaeological heritage in Uzbekistan were turned into cemeteries

It was found that 156 of the objects of cultural heritage in Uzbekistan were turned into cemeteries. This was announced at a press conference with the participation of the leadership and officials of the Cultural Heritage Agency and the General Prosecutor's Office. During the year, together with the General Prosecutor's Office, the state of protection and conservation of archaeological heritage objects in the city of Tashkent, Jizzakh, Khorezm, Navoi, Kashkadarya, Tashkent, and Bukhara regions was studied. In particular, 272 out of 287 archaeological heritage objects located in Bukhara region have been studied. This is 95 percent of the total number of objects. 156 of the studied objects were turned into cemeteries, 5 were damaged. It is noted that 8 thousand 209 real estate objects of tangible cultural heritage have been identified in Uzbekistan, of which 4 thousand 748 are objects of archaeological heritage. In 2023, 160 illegal cases were detected in the objects of cultural heritage and their adjacent areas, and law enforcement agencies were contacted.
