Kazakhstan will begin transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan only at the end of October, and not from October 1, as it was planned earlier. As Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev said at a briefing on Wednesday, the repair work of the gas pipeline is still underway, and Kazakhstan has not yet received the necessary application.
"Currently, the work that is being carried out on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan related to construction works is being completed, with the allocation of a separate thread for gas metering. According to the schedule, the work should be completed by the end of October," Satkaliyev said.
Answering the question that Kazakhstan had previously planned to start transit from October 1, the Minister explained: "Repair works are being completed and commissioning issues related to the possibility of providing this transit are underway. In this regard, as soon as we complete these works, we will make an appropriate statement."
He also added that gas volumes are still being agreed, and as soon as an application is received, Kazakhstan will be able to announce them.
Earlier, the ministry reported that Kazakhstan plans to start transporting Russian gas to Uzbekistan from October 1. Previously, it was about 10 billion cubic meters.
