The Fatwa Center of the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan answered the question of whether it is possible to eat food with gold added in Islam.
According to the Fatwa Center, it is not correct in religion to eat gold by itself or add it to food.
First, gold and silver were actually created as cash and jewelry for women. It is not permissible to make it something to eat. Doing so is contrary to Islamic law and human tradition. Because no nation, religion or society accepted gold and silver as food.
In the Holy Qur'an, Allah the Exalted said: "We said: O Adam, you and your wife (Eve) live in Paradise and eat freely from it (blessings) wherever you want. But do not approach this tree, (otherwise) you will be among the wrongdoers (Surat al-Baqara, verse 35).
In this verse, it is pointed out that eating something that should not be eaten is oppression. Therefore, eating gold or silver is also considered oppression.
Secondly, it is not allowed to eat and drink from gold and silver vessels. Our Prophet, peace be upon him, said: Do not drink (food and water) from gold and silver vessels...(Muttafaqun alayh).
According to our scholars, the reason for this return is that eating and drinking from gold and silver vessels leads to arrogance and pride and breaks the hearts of poor people. These negative qualities are found more in the consumption of gold than in the use of gold as a vessel. This, in turn, causes the loss of the quality of servitude in the human heart.
Thirdly, it is considered wasteful and wasteful and depreciating the value of blessings. Our Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said this in return from extravagance in eating, drinking, almsgiving and clothing, and arrogance: As long as extravagance and arrogance do not mix, eat, drink, give alms and wear clothing (narration of Imam Ibn Majah).
In another hadith, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: "Allah hates you to spread rumours, ask a lot of questions, and waste your wealth" (narrations of Imam Muslim).
"Some doctors may have recommended consuming small amounts of gold for healing purposes. This is a separate topic from the chapter "treatment with haram" because there is no other medicine left when necessary. But it is not halal to eat gold and silver with food. God bless you," says the Fatwa Center.
