The founder of "Wagner" Yevgeny Prigozhin met with Russian President Vladimir Putin after the military coup he organized, the French newspaper Liberation reports, citing sources in Western intelligence. According to the publication, Prigozhin was summoned to the Kremlin on July 1. There he met not only with Putin, but also with the head of the Russian Guard, Viktor Zolotov, and the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin. According to the newspaper, Prigozhin was accompanied by "Wagner" commanders. The publication did not provide other details of this meeting. The Kremlin confirmed this information. Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the meeting was real, not only on July 1, but on June 29, five days after the uprising. "The meeting lasted about 3 hours, and the commanders of the "Wagner" detachments took part in it, 35 people in total. The president gave his assessment of the events that took place and offered the Wagner representatives job opportunities," Peskov said. On June 23, the leader of "Wagner" Yevgeny Prigozhin announced a military mutiny, which lasted for a day. The rebels marched several hundred kilometers towards the Russian capital, but on the evening of June 24, Prigozhin announced that they would turn back. This decision was made after negotiations between Prigozhin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, in which Prigozhin was asked to "go to Belarus". On July 6, Lukashenko said that Prigozhin was not in Belarus, but in St. Petersburg.
