Israel and Lebanon agree to 10-day ceasefire

Trump announced a 10-day temporary ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. The agreement came into effect today, April 17.
The ceasefire was announced after talks between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. The Lebanese government supported the decision, saying that this was a demand that had been made since the beginning of the war.
According to reports, more than 2,100 people have been killed in Lebanon as a result of the fighting, and millions have been forced to flee their homes.
The parties are expected to begin direct negotiations in the coming days. However, the Hezbollah group is not implementing the agreement.

The Lebanese group Hezbollah launched rockets into Israeli territory on the night of March 2. The group said in a statement that the attacks were carried out in revenge for the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
