Iraq suffered a nationwide power outage on March 4.
A technical failure caused an unexpected decrease in gas supplies to the Rumaila power plant in Basra province. As a result, electricity generation capacity was reduced by 1,900 megawatts, causing a nationwide power outage.
Meanwhile, work is underway to repair some power plants and transmission lines that were attacked by Iran in recent weeks. The United States has urged its citizens to leave Iraq amid the blackout.
