The Iranian government expressed its condolences for the loss of life due to the natural disaster.

"Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasir Kanani expressed sympathy to the families of the victims who died as a result of heavy rains in Tajikistan. He wished a speedy recovery to the victims," the message says.

Recall that as a result of the emergency situation that has developed in the territory of a number of cities of the republic, 21 people died.

According to the country's CoES, 17 people became victims of the rampage of the elements in Vahdat, two died in Rudaki and two more - in the Varzob region.

Meanwhile, the number of dead and injured may increase.

Recall that heavy rains hit Tajikistan on August 27 and 28. They caused great damage to the infrastructure of the cities of Vahdat, Gissar, Dushanbe, as well as the districts of Rudaki, Varzob and Rasht.

To assess the damage and eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster, a special commission has been formed with the participation of high-ranking officials of the government of Tajikistan, which will visit the affected areas.
