Authorities said that a meeting in New York, convened by a popular Internet blogger, gathered an unexpectedly large crowd on Friday and escalated into violence, as a result of which people were injured, and large police forces had to urgently intervene.
It all started with a posting on Instagram of 21-year-old Kai Senat, in which he called on fans to meet him in Lower Manhattan to participate in a live broadcast where he will distribute gifts, including PlayStation 5 game consoles.
Thousands of young people — at least 2,000, according to American media — quickly gathered in Union Square and the surrounding streets in the hope of seeing the Senate, which has millions of subscribers on Twitch, YouTube, Instagram and other social networks.
As a result, a fight broke out. People were hitting each other and smashing parked cars.
As a result, it took a thousand policemen to disperse the impromptu gathering.
Several people were arrested. The Senate was brought in for questioning, but was not officially detained.
