International Sports Cooperation Strengthens in Uzbekistan

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the leadership of the Olympic Council of Asia and participants of its General Assembly. During the meeting, the newly elected President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Sheikh Jawan bin Hamad Al-Thani, conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized that Uzbekistan is a reliable partner in the international sports movement and expressed gratitude for the decision to hold the Assembly in Tashkent. It was noted that sports development is a priority direction in the “Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy.

Uzbekistan also expressed its readiness to further strengthen cooperation with international sports organizations and implement joint programs and initiatives. At the conclusion of the event, the President awarded Hussein Al-Musallam, President of the World Aquatics Federation and Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, the high state award of the Republic of Uzbekistan — the “Friendship” Order — for his significant contribution to the development of sports.
