Instructor Dies After Jumping from Plane Without Parachute in Argentina

In Argentina, 42-year-old flight instructor Leandro Bertazzo died after jumping from a plane without a parachute during a training flight. A 22-year-old female trainee was also on board. According to her account, before jumping, the instructor calmly removed his headset, gathered his personal belongings, unfastened his seatbelt, told her, "You know what to do; carry on," and threw himself from the aircraft. Although left alone at the controls, the trainee managed to send a distress signal and successfully land the aircraft at the airfield. The aviation school stated that the landing was executed flawlessly, despite the trainee's severe emotional distress. The instructor's body was later found in a field near the scene of the incident. Local law enforcement authorities are treating the incident primarily as a suspected suicide. The deceased's relatives revealed that he had been undergoing treatment for mental health issues, though his colleagues were unaware of this.
