It was reported that iodine, which is believed to have poisoned kindergarten children and schoolchildren in the Namangan region of Uzbekistan, was produced by the LLC headed by an internationally wanted person. The press service of the Center for Safety of Pharmaceutical Products of SSV issued a statement on the situation. According to him, the Pharmaceutical Activity Licensing Department of the State Institution "Pharmaceutical Products Safety Center" under the SSV is conducting an investigation of the pharmaceutical activity at the "Samo" LLC, which produced the drug "Antistrumin". During the inspection, legal documents on drugs and pharmaceutical activities, including State standards of Necessary production practice, Necessary distribution practice, Necessary storage practice, in the field of technical regulation within the framework of production, preparation, storage and wholesale sale of medicinal products cases of compliance with the requirements of the documents and the requirements and conditions of the license, which must be followed by the enterprise, are being studied. Also, according to the "General Technical Regulation on the Safety of Medicines", the accredited laboratories of the center are carrying out analysis processes in accordance with the established procedure for the safety indicators of the "Antistrumin" drug. "At this point, the Center for the Safety of Pharmaceutical Products appeals to the general public and asks them not to spread unsubstantiated reports until the causes of the situation related to this drug are determined and reported by the relevant organizations," the message reads. Earlier, it was said that 450 children in Namangan region were poisoned by the iodine produced by this LLC and went to the hospital. Deputy Health Minister Elmira Bositkhonova said that the children were not poisoned by drugs or food. But he said that we haven't figured it out yet. The person in charge, who told the mass media, at the same time issued a letter to the Health Department and the head of "Samo" LLC, saying that we should temporarily stop children from taking this medicine. The General Prosecutor's Office initiated a criminal case under Article 257-1 of the Criminal Code (violation of sanitary legislation or anti-epidemic regulations) regarding the poisoning of children in Namangan region.
