Individuals Involved in Illegal Organ Trade Detained in Tashkent

Officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ оперативно-розыскной department and the State Security Service detained individuals in Tashkent who were engaged in the illegal trade of human organs and tissues.

It was established that a man born in 1989 and his spouse, seeking easy profit, produced videos on social media advertising the sale of human organs and directed clients to the “Istiqlol” clinic in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The man himself had previously undergone a kidney transplant. Those assisting them reportedly included administrators of Telegram, Instagram, and YouTube channels.

A criminal case has been initiated, and the suspect has been placed in pre-trial detention. Under the law, illegal trade in human organs and tissues is punishable by 3 to 10 years of imprisonment.
