In Uzbekistan, 445 criminal cases involving sexual offenses against children under the age of 14 have been initiated over the past four years.

Between 2022 and 2025, 445 criminal cases involving sexual offenses against children under the age of 14 were initiated in Uzbekistan. This information was disclosed during a discussion of a draft law at the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
According to the data presented, the number of criminal cases initiated for such offenses was 85 in 2022, 108 in 2023, 129 in 2024, and 123 in 2025.
The draft law discussed by the deputies proposes strengthening measures to protect children from violence. Specifically, it envisages the introduction of life imprisonment for certain grave sexual offenses committed against children under the age of 14.
Proposals were also made to abolish the statute of limitations for such crimes, strengthen the legal protection of child victims during investigation and court proceedings, and provide them with free legal assistance.
The draft law has been adopted in the first reading by the Legislative Chamber.
