Minister of Higher Education, Science and innovation Ibrahim Abdurahmonov met with rectors and vice-rectors of higher education institutions located in Tashkent to discuss the issue of student accommodation. This was reported by the press service of the ministry.
The meeting discussed the implementation of such tasks as bringing the hostels to the state of affairs for the new academic year, providing them with a material and technical base, creating a rental housing base for students and studying the status of apartments, establishing the provision of students with information about hostels and rental housing. In turn, the leadership of higher education institutions provided information on the work carried out.
The minister provided guidance on the creation of all conditions for students to settle in dormitories and rental housing without problems during the academic year.
It is established that the prepared hostels should be emphasized on fire safety, the level of preparation for the winter, the setting of the elevators (if any) and the fact that they are certified. In the territories of the university, it was agreed to establish centers for the placement of students in dormitories and rental housing, to organize the activities of leading students and tutors in them.
In March, it was reported that by the end of 2023, student housing with 18 thousand seats will be built and put into use in Uzbekistan. It was then said that by the end of the year, it was planned to increase the student housing fund from 127 thousand seats.
